Request the model-specific documents

• The exact model identification, supplied configuration and serial or batch identification.
• The manufacturer’s identity and postal and electronic contact details.
• Where required, the EU importer or responsible economic operator’s identity and contact details.
• The relevant signed declaration of conformity, supporting test information and markings for the supplied configuration.
• The instructions, safety warnings and battery and charger information in the languages required by the destination.

Ask Bob about the CE conformity documentation for the selected model and configuration. Check that the documentation identifies the model and configuration to be supplied and the requirements relevant to your destination.

Road-use classification depends on configuration

Do not infer road legality from appearance, warehouse location or a CE mark alone. Motor rating, assisted speed, throttle behaviour and the applicable approval category need to be checked for the exact supplied product and destination. Models or configurations outside ordinary pedal-assist bicycle rules can have different approval, registration, insurance and use requirements.

Battery, charging and safe operation

Read and follow the instructions supplied with the actual bike, battery and charger before use. Use only the charging equipment and charging conditions approved for that configuration. Do not charge or use a damaged battery, and stop using a product if there are signs of overheating, swelling, unusual smell or other damage.
